Meet Our Executive Team
Mark el Baroudi
Mark el Baroudi is Exchanger Industries’ president and chief executive officer, serving in this capacity since October 2012. Prior to joining Exchanger Industries, Mark held several senior leadership roles including co-founder and chief operating officer of Borderfree, a market leader in international cross-border eCommerce.
Prior to that role, Mark served as a global account manager for a leading international strategy firm, Monitor Company, in charge of developing and implementing corporate, business unit and manufacturing strategies, as well as operational efficiency programs for Fortune 500 companies in North America, Europe and Asia.
Mark holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Queen’s University in Kingston, and a Masters, Business Administration from INSEAD, in Fontainebleau, France.
John Michelin Jr. P.Eng.
John is our vice president – commercial and provides leadership to our sales, estimating and engineering team. Joining in 1989, John has been with Exchanger Industries for over 30 years and has held several positions ranging from design engineer and sales manager to engineering manager and vice president of operations. He has established an extensive knowledge of, and long-standing relationships with, Exchanger Industries’ international strategic customer account base over that period.
John led the development and commercialization of our antifouling coating business and has been a member of the HTRI Technical Committee since 2016. John also acts as general manager for our newly formed LLC in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and pursued a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Calgary.
Gavin Exon
Gavin is our vice president of operations, providing leadership to manufacturing, project management, and field services, as well as supporting functions in safety, quality, IT, and document control. Gavin joined Exchanger Industries in May 2012 to spearhead initiatives to increase productivity and efficiency in manufacturing as well as to lead business processes redesign including drawing automation, the implementation of ERP and establishing the project management office. Most recently Gavin developed the field services business plan and offering.
Before joining Exchanger Industries, Gavin held management roles overseeing project management and engineering at Global Thermoelectric (acquired by Gentherm Global Power Technologies), an industry leader in remote power solutions and the world’s largest manufacturer of thermoelectric generators. Prior to that, Gavin held various roles at General Motors, working in a GM/Suzuki joint venture facility where he honed his skills in lean manufacturing and automation. Earlier experience includes roles at Ford Motor Company and Terra Nova Industries.
Gavin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary.
Martin Svejda
Martin Svejda is our director of supply chain, having served in this role since he joined the company in December 2014.
Martin has over 20 years of experience in global supply chain and operations across multiple industry verticals.
Prior to joining the Exchanger Industries team, Martin spent several years working with LEGO as director of global projects where he led the establishment of several greenfield factory initiatives in Hungary, China and Mexico. In earlier roles, Martin served as director of strategy, technology, and productivity initiatives at NOKIA across their nine-factory network.
Martin has a Bachelor’s Degree from Athabasca University along with a Diploma in Finance from Mount Royal University.
David Neufeld
David is our director of finance, providing leadership to our finance and accounting functions.
As part of the executive team, David has evolved Exchanger Industries’ forecasting processes to drive greater visibility and accuracy, and established sources of financing that have helped to drive the growth and development of the company.
David has been with Exchanger Industries for over 28 years and held multiple positions within the finance function and developed, over that period, a deep understanding of the heat exchanger business.
He has served in his current capacity as director of finance since December 2016.
